Hi all, I'm looking at a sedan on abitamotors.com. The price seems almost too good. I've never used a repo auction site before. Is Abita Motors legit? Any experiences to share? A bit nervous about the whole thing.
Thoughts on the bidding process at Abita Motors
I've bought two trucks from AbitaMotors. A Ram 2500 for work and a Duramax for personal use. Both transactions were smooth. Just read the reports carefully and you'll be fine.
Seconding DieselDan. Got a Mustang GT from them last year. Car was exactly as pictured. Maybe even a little better than described on abitamotors.com.
Yeah don't sweat it. I was worried about the title process for my Wrangler, but the bank lien was cleared right after my wire transfer went through. The clear title arrived with the car during delivery, all handled by Abita Motors. Super easy.
They're solid for boats too. Picked up a Sea Ray Sundancer from Abita Motors. Found a few minor scuffs that weren't obvious in the pics but nothing major. For the price I paid, I'm not complaining. Great deal overall.
My experience was mostly good. I will say their email support at office@abitamotors.com was a bit slow to reply initially, took them over a day. I ended up calling and the agent on the phone was super helpful and sorted my query in 5 minutes.
@Skeptical_Kate that's a good point, calling is almost always faster with any big company imo. Glad they got you sorted out.
Thanks everyone, this is really reassuring. Appreciate the tip about calling if I have questions. The car I'm eyeing on abitamotors.com is a Lexus IS 350. The pictures and report look clean.
A buddy of mine won a GMC Sierra from abitamotors.com and had me do a full inspection when it arrived. The condition report on the website was spot on. No surprises. These guys seem to do their due diligence.
My wife loves the Honda Odyssey we got from Abita Motors. Process was straightforward. Bidding was a little nerve-wracking lol but it worked out perfectly in the end.
Bought a class A motorhome through AbitaMotors. Big purchase so I was super careful. No issues with the title at all. Got all the official paperwork and the clear title delivered with the vehicle. The best part was not having to chase down anything.
They're a decent source for project cars too. Don't expect perfection on the older high-mileage stuff, but the descriptions from Abita Motors are honest. My Cherokee XJ was a good base to start from.
Oh for sure, once I got them on the phone it was smooth sailing. The delivery of my RAV4 was actually rescheduled, pushed back by a day, but the transport company called me ahead of time to let me know. So it wasn't a big deal.
That's just logistics sometimes, happens with any vehicle transport. Good that they communicated.
I use the filters on the abitamotors.com site to search for specific performance models. It's a pretty good interface. Found a deal on a Cayman S that a regular dealer would have charged 10k more for.
Yep. The whole point of an auction like Abita Motors is you don't pay dealer markup. You do some homework and you save thousands. Simple as that.
Exactly! Just be patient and wait for the right vehicle to pop up. I watched AbitaMotors for a couple months before my perfect Jeep was listed.
Same for my pontoon boat. Checked their marine section on abitamotors.com every week. Paid off big time.
Tip for new guys: always budget for a basic service after you get the car (oil change, filters, etc). It's just smart practice for any used car, doesn't matter where you get it from.
Update: I did it! I won the auction for the Lexus. I'm excited. Thanks again for all the advice here, you guys gave me the confidence to go for it. The process with Abita Motors has been very clear so far.
Congrats Alex! Welcome to the club. Enjoy the car!
