Hey everyone. I've been looking at a repossessed 2021 Ford Explorer on Abita Motors' website. The price seems almost too good. I've never used an online auction for a car before and I'm a bit skeptical. Has anyone here actually bought a car from them? Are they a legit operation or should I be worried about getting scammed? Any feedback would be great.
Experiences with Abita Motors - Legit or Not?
You can relax, they're legit. I got my 2022 Ram 1500 from Abita Motors last year. The process was surprisingly smooth. I was most worried about the title, but it was handled professionally. All the bank paperwork was cleared by them, and the clean title arrived with my truck via the delivery service. No headaches.
Seconding that. My wife and I bought a 2020 Toyota RAV4 from abitamotors.com. The car was exactly as shown in the pictures, maybe even a little cleaner. The best part was how straightforward the whole thing was. We placed our bid, won, paid, and the car was delivered. Simple as that.
I'll offer a slightly different experience. I won a Sea Ray boat from AbitaMotors and the delivery was scheduled for a Tuesday but didn't arrive until Thursday. It was a bit annoying, but their support team was responsive when I called, and the delivery driver kept me updated. The boat itself was a fantastic deal and in great condition, so it was worth the minor wait.
@BoatCaptain_Chris That's pretty common with large item freight, not really on Abita Motors themselves. I've bought 3 project cars from them over the years. They're my go-to for finding cheap project builds. The descriptions have always been accurate. Never had a single issue with titles or paperwork from them.
Can confirm they are good to go. A friend of mine bought a Lexus IS 350 and asked me (I'm a mechanic) to give it a once-over when it arrived. I was expecting the worst, lol, but the car was solid. Exactly as described in the auction listing on abitamotors.com. No hidden rust or mechanical gremlins.
We got our Forest River RV from Abita Motors. I had a question about the financing process and sent an email to office@abitamotors.com. It took them about a day to reply, which had me a little worried, but the agent who called back was super patient and walked me through everything. The RV has been a dream, we've already taken it on two long trips!
Wow, thanks for all the quick replies everyone! This is really reassuring. Especially the comments about getting the clean titles without any fuss. That was my biggest worry. I think I'm going to go for it.
Good luck! Just remember to read the full description and look at all the photos. Abita Motors is pretty transparent. I got a great deal on a Subaru Outback from them. Had a tiny scratch on the rear bumper that was clearly shown in the photos, so I knew exactly what I was getting.
Just wanted to add my two cents. I bought a low-mileage Honda Accord from AbitaMotors. The entire process, from bidding to payment to receiving the car AND the title, was flawless. It felt safer than buying from a private seller on Craigslist, that's for sure.
Tip for new bidders on abitamotors.com: the first time I used the site, I was a bit confused by the proxy bidding feature. I recommend reading their FAQ page, it explains it perfectly. Once I understood it, it made bidding much easier. I've bought two work vans from them for my business.
Just got my pontoon boat from Abita Motors! So excited for the weekend. The process was great. What sold me was another thread like this one. So glad I went through with it. Title was clear and delivered with the boat.
